Purpose

AcqWeb

AcqWeb is the ultimate resource for Acquisitions and Collection Development Librarians. Three of the most useful sections are:
Academia

Academia is a monthly publication of Yankee Book Peddler, Cullom-Davis Library's primary book vendor. Its Academic Essentials page provides quality bibliographies by subject, a different subject each month. A good source for selecting library materials or to enhance a professional/personal collection.
Books in Print

Books in Print is an invaluable resource for locating information on books in print, out-of-print and forthcoming. It allows for keyword and subject searching.
OCLC WorldCat

OCLC WorldCat is the ultimate source for information about books, containing approximately 52,000,000 from participating libraries (including Bradley) from around the world. Great verification tool.
Gobi II

For Bradley University faculty only, Gobi II is the Library's primary book vendor's ordering system. With a username and password, University faculty can make selections and send them to the Library directly for ordering. Individuals can also set up profiles to receive recommendations by subject, publishers etc. Contact Todd Spires, x2841 (tspires@bradley.edu) to set up an account.

alibris Began as a book broker connecting customers with out-of-print dealers, they have expanded to include new books and new and used videos and music. It is still a great source for rare and out-of-print materials.

Amazon.com Large online bookseller, providing good discounts and quick shipping. You can buy DVDs, Videos, music CDs and many other products. Also a great source for used books, videos, etc.

Barnes & Noble.com Large online bookseller, providing good discounts and quick shipping. You can have things shipped to the local Barnes and Noble store and save on shipping.

eBay A good place to find used and rare books, amongst other things.

GEMM - Highly recommended. GEMM is a search engine for online music stores. Type in artist or title and GEMM will find it in multiple formats, new and used with all prices. A great way to comparison shop.

Napster - A good place download music. You must download their software and give them credit card information to keep on file.

Yahoo - Lists hundreds of sources for music.

Facets - An incredible source for videos and DVS, features foreign, classic, cult, independent, experimental and obscure videos. The stock "rare" items and popular titles as well.

Films for the Humanities - Tons of quality educational videos in many, many subjects.

Kino on Video - "The best in world cinema."
